Programs and Initiatives

Our program begins with a week-long summer initiative, catering to young women from Lincoln, Logan, and McDowell counties who are low-income, first-generation college-bound students. This immersive experience will take place at Marshall University, where they will engage with state-wide women leaders, and at The George Washington University, where they will connect with national women leaders.

Following the summer program, participants will receive ongoing support tailored to their journey, including mentoring, peer groups for sharing experiences, and special events as they pursue higher education and leadership roles. Our goal is to nurture these young women as they transition from cohorts to mentors, serving as inspirational examples for future participants.

How to Apply

    Review Eligibility Criteria: Our program is designed for young women from Lincoln, Logan, and McDowell counties in West Virginia who are low-income, first-generation college-bound students. Ensure that you meet these eligibility requirements before proceeding with the application.

    Complete the Application Form: Visit our program’s website or contact our office to obtain the application form. Fill out all required fields accurately and completely. Be sure to provide detailed information about your background, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and any leadership experiences.

    Submit Supporting Documents: Along with the application form, you may be required to submit additional documents such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Follow the instructions provided on the application form regarding the submission of supporting documents.

    Prepare for Interviews (if applicable): Depending on the selection process, applicants may be invited for interviews to further assess their suitability for the program. Be prepared to discuss your academic goals, leadership aspirations, and reasons for applying to the program.

    Await Notification: Once you have submitted your application and supporting documents, please allow sufficient time for our admissions committee to review your materials. You will be notified of the decision via email or postal mail within the specified timeframe.

    Acceptance and Enrollment: If selected for the program, you will receive an acceptance letter outlining the next steps for enrollment. Follow the instructions provided to confirm your participation and secure your spot in the program.

    Attend the Summer Initiative: Upon enrollment, you will participate in our week- long summer initiative held at Marshall University and The George Washington University. Engage with state-wide and national women leaders, network with fellow participants, and take advantage of the immersive learning experience.
